Anterior Analysis and Restorative System (AARS)

This system was developed by Dr. Craig Erskine-Smith following his experience as a cosmetic dentist over the past 20 years. The system is available in two forms -

A. The Anterior Analysis and Restorative System. This includes -

2. Dentagauge™ Duo. (Dentagauges 1 & 2)

B. The Advanced Anterior Analysis and Restorative System. This includes -

3. Esthetic Engineer - tooth positioning and smile design software.

Dr. Erskine-Smith realised there were many shortcomings with the current methods used to:

• Close diastemas such that proportion with adjacent teeth was maintained.
• Convert canines to laterals.
• Convert peg laterals to normal laterals etc.

Many of these shortcomings related to the fact that the teeth were not in the right proportion when the job was finished, nor were the teeth symmetrical.

He began to work out mathematical formulas to calculate what size the teeth should be so that they conform to fundamental human norms of size and proportion.

After undertaking an extensive literature survey, tables and charts were developed which enable the general practitioner to quickly and easily ascertain what size they should make a tooth, given the existing size of the adjacent or contralateral tooth or given the arch length of the smile zone.

Dentists can now use the tables and charts to close diastemas in such a way as to maintain correct proportions and symmetry.

The charts and tables found in the booklet represent the distillation of many years of research and work. Also included in the booklet are instructions for use of the Dentagauges, as well as care and cleaning instructions.

DENTAGAUGE™ DUO

The Dentagauge Duo is comprised of Dentagauge 1 and 2.

Why two gauges? Due to the complexities of measuring teeth in situ, in a relatively straight line and in normal arched curvature, it was found that all the design requirements could not be integrated into one gauge.

After establishing this fact we then developed Dentagauges 1 and 2, which together provide comprehensive measurement capability specifically designed for the dental professional.
